Fall in love with our new compounded estriol face cream
As we shift into fall we are so excited to welcome cooler temps and all things pumpkin spice, but with that comes that cooler mountain air which can leave our skin looking THIRSTY. When we started thinking about what skincare we wanted to offer we knew we didn't want any complex potions or confusing 10 step routines. The basis for any good skincare routine should be pretty simple, and we wanted to get to the root cause of dryness and signs of aging and, in our climate, a lot of it ties back to dryness and sun damage. In women as we age, our endogenous (natural) production of estrogen becomes less regular which of course can cause innumerable hormonal side effects relating to our cycles, sleep, body composition and... you called it... our SKIN. Now, this does not translate to putting every single woman on hormone replacement as that is a complex topic riddled with pros and cons in and of itself, however, we can definitely reap the benefits estrogen plays on skin without effecting our serum (or bodily) estrogen levels. enter: our babyface cream. Formulated with purpose and intention, we set out to find a cream that works not only by hydrating the top layer of our skin (like everything out there) but also has lasting and aging-reversal effects. Babyface Cream contains estriol, which is the least potent of three forms of estrogen produced by the female body. Estrogen receptors are found all over the body and are plentiful on the facial skin. Clinical studies have shown that prolonged use of 0.3% estriol can reduce fine lines and wrinkles by promoting elasticity and stimulating type III collagen production to the facial skin, which is the collagen responsible for structure and skin turgor. Also included in this formulation is low potency tretinoin, a steroid which increases cell turnover and decreases inflammation, alpha lipoic acid which is a supplement associated with improved metabolic functioning, hyaluronic acid which is hydrophilic and attracts water molecules for a "plumping" effect, and vitamin C for antioxidant properties and to support collagen synthesis.
